December Board of Directors: Final Call for Candidates

Dear Neighbors,

This the final call for candidates. The Association is seeking candidates for the two Board of Director’s positions open in the upcoming election.  The board will host the election at the December 10th, 2014 Board of Directors meeting with electronic votes accepted via the web.  An election packet with candidate bios and further instructions will be sent via email to the designated email addresses for each home on December 3, 2014.  Write-ins will be welcome through December 10th and at the Board of Director’s meeting on that day.

Those seeking a board seat are asked to submit their name, a photo and statement about yourself and your views for the neighborhood to the board prior to December 3, 2014.  These will be distributed to the neighborhood in the “election package.” These requests are not a requirement to run but will assist the neighbors is deciding their vote. A candidate may submit any or all of these requested items. The package will be distributed to the neighborhood on December 3, 2014 and will not be re-distributed. Any candidates who decide to run after December 3, 2014 will bear the responsibility of notifying their neighbors for write-in votes. Having a bio in the election packet is the most advantageous way to promote your candidacy.

Thanks,

Can Food Drive: Thanks for the Donations and to the Volunteers

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you all for your donations, to Toni Villines for making the flyers, and to the Waterbury, Mills, Grover, and Brigante families for helping to collect and package the food. The neighborhood donated over 250 food items, beating our goal. These donations will be given to the Meriden Soup Kitchen. As the weather gets colder the demand will pick up for their services and this contribution will be very helpful. Hopefully, we can make this a semi-annual event.

Thank you,

Community Food Drive Child / Volunteer Signup

Dear Neighbors,

The Association is organizing a community  food drive for the morning of November 1st.  Besides collecting food for those in need, youth involvement is one of the top goals of this event.  We will also need parents/residents to help organize the kids and pack up the collections.  Lastly, our goal is to have 100% community participation in donating food goods.

The plan is to hand out bags/flyers at the beginning of that week, then collect the food on the morning of November 1st.  That morning, we’ll need a volunteer for hopefully each road to direct kids on that road to collect the food and then help deliver all the goods to the mailbox area to box the goods and take a celebratory picture.

Please let me know if you would like your children to participate.  Any resident is welcome to volunteer with this endeavor.

Thanks,

Dumpster Rental Interest?

Dear Neighbors,

Many of you have expressed interest in getting dumpsters and inquired about a community rental similar to what we did approximately 4 years ago.  We would divide up the total cost by the number of participants and rely on the honor system that only participants utilize the dumpster.  Please reply so we can gauge the interest level and we will get back to everybody with details.

Thanks,

Rules and Regs Approved: Year in Review

Dear Neighbors,

The Rules and Regs were approved by the Association members tonight by a vote of 36 in favor and 4 against with 2 registered abstentions (non votes).  We achieved over 80% participation including 42 of the 45 homeowners that personally live in the neighborhood and the Board would like to thank you for staying involved.
These rules are now in effect and enforcement will begin in September to allow neighbors time to correct any compliance issues.  These rules aim to promote a harmonious environment and preserve the property values within the neighborhood.  We encourage neighbors to resolve issues with each other before approaching the board.  However, the board will take action when necessary to ensure that the rules and regulations are adhered to.
The passing of the Rules and Regs marks the culmination of the Board transition plan that began 1 year ago.  Through this process we repopulated the board, held two open elections, established temporary and permanent bylaws, produced a reserves study and updated budget and finally passed widely supported rules and regs.  I would like to personally thank the other members of the Board (Bob, Sue, Angelo, Mick, Kristi) for their continuing help as well as the many neighbors who have contributed and remained involved.
Next year we will be transitioning to quarterly meetings to reduce the time and effort required to run the association and encourage greater community participation.  Although we have made great strides in establishing the Association, we must now continually support it so that it can best serve the neighborhood far into the future.  I encourage everyone to remain involved and support the Association as best each can.
Thank you,
Steve Tommell

Last Chance to Vote: Rules and Regs

Dear Neighbors,

This is the last chance to vote on the proposed rules and regs.  You have approximately 24 hours left to vote.  Try to vote tonight if possible.  The process requires that we have a minimum of quorum for the vote to be official.  However, we are striving for 100% participation.  Please vote at the links under the voting tab or let the BOD know if you will be attending the meeting tomorrow night at Platt High School at 7pm.

These rules affect everybody so everybody should be exercising their vote.  Whether in favor or against, you vote is your voice and it is important to be heard.

Thanks,
Steve Tommell

No Ranch Dressing allowed in Hidden Valley Association: Vote Now

Dear Neighbors,

Obviously this is not a new rule.  However, if you do not read the rules and regs and vote, you will not know the rules that could affect you.  And you will not have voiced your opinion.  There are less than 3 days left to vote on the new rules and regulations.  You can easily vote on them from the link under  the voting tab in less than five minutes.  If you plan on attending the meeting Wednesday at 7pm at Platt High School, let us know.  We will be visiting the few homes that have not voted in the next few days in an attempt to reach 100% participation.
We look forward to seeing you at the BOD meeting on Wednesday.  The financials for May have been uploaded to the website.
Thank you,

June BOD Agenda/Meeting Minutes uploaded

Dear Neighbors,

The agenda for the June BOD meeting and the previous month’s meeting minutes have been uploaded to the website.  The most critical item is maximum participation in the Rules and Regulations vote.  I have personally contacted those homes who have not voted yet and urged them to complete an online proxy or notify the BOD of their intent to vote at the meeting.  I look forward to hearing from them soon.

The links to the draft rules and regulations and online voting are available under the voting tab.

We will also be reviewing some proposed landscaping rules for discussion.  The financials should be posted by Sunday night.  I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Thanks,
